Abstract There is a new age of philanthropy in Europe – a €50 billion plus financial market. Changing attitudes to wealth, growing social need and innovations in finance are creating a revolution in how we give, aided and sometimes abetted by governments. Mapping the changes, Christopher Carnie focuses on high-value philanthropists – people and foundations as ‘major donors’ – investing or donating €25,000 upwards.

Major Donor Fundraising conference, 7th Feb 2011, London

Chris Carnie will be chairing a session at the Institute of Fundraising’s Major Donor Fundraising conference in London, 7th February 2011.

His session will include:

  • Addressing the challenges of integrating fundraising in to the heart of the organisation
  • Smaller charities: building an effective major donor strategy with a small team
  • International charities: creating specific projects suitable for major donor funding

Full details on the conference are at the Institute of Fundraising website.

CASE Europe 09

Chris Carnie spoke at this year’s CASE Europe conference, in Liverpool, 24-28 August 2009. He presented research on new forms of philanthropy in Europe in “Money, Minds and Motives,” a joint session with Marie-Stéphane Maradeix, Campaign Director of the École Polytechnique. He presented an introduction to prospect research – “Find the Funds, Intelligently” – stressing the growing role of prospect researchers in knowledge management. Both presentations are available for download. Click the presentation name to download a pdf version.
